Epworth Sleepiness Scale

Sleepiness, tiredness and fatigue are all different. Sleepiness means that you can fall asleep easily, sometimes too easily and that can cause accidents and other problems. The questionnaire below measures sleepiness. If you score high you should seriously think about talking to a physician or sleep specialist to decide whether you should do more than use a bright light.

3 = high chance of dozing.
2 = moderate chance of dozing  
1 = slight chance of dozing    
0 = would never doze

Sitting and reading
Watching television
Sitting inactive in a public place (eg. theatre or at a meeting)
As a passenger in a car for an hour without a break
Lying down to rest in the afternoon when circumstances permit
Sitting and talking to someone
Sitting quietly after lunch without alcohol
In a car while stopped for a few minutes in traffic
